Spring Cleaning Your Social Media Presence

(Reprinted from blog at www.MillerMosaicLLC.com)

While spring cleaning is usually a physical work concept – shampooing the carpets or throwing away all the mismatched gloves and mittens – it can just as easily be applied to online activities.

And this week, while posting my new ebook HOW TO SUCCEED IN HIGH SCHOOL AND PREP FOR COLLEGE in sites on which I already have a presence, I have discovered that spring cleaning online is important for discovering changes on sites.

And these changes can often mean new opportunities that are being overlooked.

For example, when posting to my Goodreads account, I discovered that Goodreads now sells the ebooks of authors if they want this option. But you must sign up for it as it is not automatic.

And when posting my father’s second book of short stories, “Blossom Winters Is Driving on the Los Angeles Freeways and Other Short Stories,” to Createspace, I discovered that Createspace now has an estore in which you can even have your own banner art. But, again, you must sign up for this option.

Yes, all of this updating takes time and energy. Yet if you are online for the long haul, you are going to want to take advantage of new opportunities.

What about Facebook? How do you like your Facebook Page in the new format?

I will admit that not all our Miller Mosaic Facebook Pages have been optimized to take advantage of the new format’s features. (Yes, this is just like the shoemaker’s children having no shoes.)

On Tuesday, April 10, at 3 p.m. Pacific I’m going to be on an information call about becoming a contributor for The Indie Times.
Join us if you are interested.

Here is one of my contributions to The Indie Times – “Are You Engaging on Social Media?”

In this article I talk about Dana Lynn Smith starting a new Facebook group that will give you access to free ebooks on Kindle as well as the opportunity to write comments. Dana explains:

Join this group to learn about free ebooks for Kindle, Nook, iPad and other ebook reading devices. Many of these ebooks are free for only a day or two, so be sure to check this page often.

Readers, please share this group with your friends who love to read ebooks! Just point them to http://on.fb.me/FreeEbookGroup where they can click the “Ask to Join Group” button in the upper right.

Today thanks to this group I got the Kindle ebook “Make Things Happen” by Cathy Stucker.

Okay, I admit I’m a little stressed over all the spring cleaning I want to do online plus all the new opportunities I want to try.

Still, given the choice, I’d much rather have lots of new opportunities!
