Leave Thoughtful Comments on Other People’s Blogs to Increase Traffic to Your Blog

by Phyllis Zimbler Miller on February 18, 2010

Bloggers want more readers. And comments left on blog posts encourage search engines to find the blog. Ergo, to get more readers it helps to get more comments.

And what follows from this is: If you want people to leave comments on your posts, it’s a good idea to leave comments on other people’s posts.

Clarification: I’m talking about thoughtful opinions or questions in connection to the actual content of the blog post. (Yes, you have to read the post before leaving a comment.) The comment “Great post!” does NOT count as a thoughtful opinion.

Chris Kilber at www.ChrisKilber.com in his series “101 Traffic Tips” has written an excellent post on the art of commenting. If you want to increase traffic to your own blog, read his advice now – and then start implementing his advice.
